Artist's reflection: In this contemporary painting, Zhou added a bit more detail and color to the grass and flowers. However, to fully enjoy the art viewers need to stand up close and stand back. It is almost as if there are two paintings. 
 
By superimposing several layers of different colors on gray, Zhou creates richer shadows that result in a more three-dimensional painting. At the same time, the contrasting colors she uses give viewers of her painting a sense of harmony and pleasure.
