Artist's reflection: Zhou chose to add more detail to this painting, removing it from an abstract style. The detail of the bush and the use of the colors in just the right amounts brings focus to the center, but also creates other parts of the painting to look and enjoy.
 
With a gray background, Zhou superimposes several layers of different colors to make the shadows in the painting richer and provide a more three-dimensional feeling.
