Artist's reflection: Zhou deploys saturated colors and incorporates texture into this contemporary piece to make it stand apart from other cityscape / landscape art she has created. 
 
By superimposing several layers of different colors on gray, Zhou creates richer shadows that result in a more three-dimensional painting. At the same time, the contrasting colors she uses give viewers of her painting a sense of harmony and pleasure.
