Artist's reflection: A tabletop isn't just for eating. It is a communal place for many things, including a plant and its pot. In this image the plant and pot are separating. Does this have a special meaning to the artist? 
 
The silence in Zhang’s paintings comes from the peacefulness of his soul. In his paintings, it is as though each color is painted on a limestone colored wall. The colors used are infiltrated by gray and white tones – thus losing their original strength, but softly and elegantly blending together.
