Artist's reflection: A charcoal colored chair and two different fruit combine through blotchy and light brush strokes to create a peaceful scene. 
 
The silence in Zhang’s paintings comes from the peacefulness of his soul. In his paintings, it is as though each color is painted on a limestone colored wall. The colors used are infiltrated by gray and white tones – thus losing their original strength, but softly and elegantly blending together.
