Artist's reflection: The period 2011 to 2012 was a particularly passionate time for Liu, who created a number of works. This painting draws on the expressions from traditional Chinese ink paintings: the background is very ethereal and there is a variety of lines with a large-scale ink-stain effect. The brush strokes are bold, but delicate. And sometiems they look as tough as iron and sometimes as soft as silver. The result is a highly aesthetic unity of content and form. The painter borrows external nature to express an inner calm.
