Artist's reflection: In this artwork, Zhang clearly calls out the foreground through the use of size and color. Two figures on first glance appear to be the same, but upon closer inspection actually aren't. Their eyes and facial expressions are unique, along with their hand gestures. And a blue flower, which appears to be a rose, ever so slightly separates the two people to create another area of focus. Finally, the background stands on its own with an ominous sky.
 
Smooth, soft and colorful can aptly describe Zhang's style.
