Artist's reflection: Zhang splits the painting in two by creating a background of a purple and yellow dusk sky, and a bright foreground with a tan road. One of four figures stands out in particular, with a bright yellow dress, yet it is not because she is the only female. A red rose is in front of all the figures and none seems to be paying it any attention.
