Artist's reflection: While the color green dominates this image, it doesn't overwhelm it. Zhang skillfully dilutes and saturates in just the right amounts to create a simple, but warm contemporary painting.
 
The silence in Zhang’s paintings comes from the peacefulness of his soul. In his paintings, it is as though each color is painted on a limestone colored wall. The colors used are infiltrated by gray and white tones – thus losing their original strength, but softly and elegantly blending together.
