Artist's reflection: This seven star pagoda is capped in gold and the light blue sky provides an optimal background. As with other contemporary artworks by Hong, this one has just enough detail to present what he saw and lacks just enough to let viewers of this work add in their own details.  
 
Hong Yu, who is originally from a rural setting, has a deep connection with the four seasons and a special affection for their characteristics including the rain, snow, wind and frost. During his 1,000+ kilometer journey from Anhui Province, China to Beijing, China he captured these characteristics and the atmosphere that enveloped him. Through his artwork, Hong likes to convey to others what he sees and how his heart interprets it.
